Privacy by Default
Your data is used solely to serve you. It is never exploited. Google maintains strict controls over how customer data is used:
- No Model Training: Google commits to not using data from the Gemini API and other paid services to train its generative AI models.*
- No Logging by Default (Speech-to-Text): By default, services like Google Cloud Speech-to-Text do not log customer audio data or transcripts; they are typically processed in memory.
- No Advertising Policy: Google explicitly commits that your content and personal information are not used by Gemini Apps or Google Cloud AI for advertising purposes.

Data Protected in Transit and At Rest
Your data is protected at every stage with strong, default encryption.
- In Transit: All prompts, responses, audio, and data are encrypted during transfer using TLS 1.3 (Transport Layer Security) to ensure secure communication and prevent unauthorized interception.
- At Rest: Data stored within the Google Cloud infrastructure (if retained) is encrypted by default using AES-256 encryption. This is applied automatically without any customer action required.
Data Residency
Maintain compliance with local data sovereignty laws. You have control over where your data is stored and processed, as Google's AI models can be invoked through regional endpoints to ensure data remains within a specified geography.
